Full Moon Pet FAQ

Dog Food Ingredients & Sourcing

Why Fresh Frozen?

At Full Moon, we’ve set out to feed our dogs the same nourishing ingredients we’d feed ourselves.

Flash freezing allows us to deliver the highest quality ingredients at their peak nutrition in the least processed way. We don’t add any preservatives, so you’re able to conveniently store food longer (up to a year!) and still feel at peace knowing you’re offering a healthy meal, each time.

How is Freshly Crafted made?

We take pride in sourcing the meat in our recipes from Perdue Family Farms, where all animals are raised ethically and without use of antibiotics.

Starting in small batches, we gently cook the meat and liver in USDA-compliant facilities, flash freeze, and mix with frozen, raw vegetables. From beginning to end, we uphold the highest standards to be truly human grade.

Our unique individually frozen format allows you to easily scoop as little or as much as you want, or simply pour directly from the bag and serve. Easier for you, better for your dog.

What does 100% human grade mean?

To us, human grade means people food. In other words, made in a USDA kitchen where all ingredients and processing meet both USDA and FDA standards for human consumption. From farm to dog bowl, we uphold the same high-quality standards set for us. We’re especially proud of our sourcing. Learn more here.

Are your poultry and meat products raised humanely?

Raising animals the right way not only results in better food but it’s also the right thing to do. We actively work with our family farmers to ensure that our animals are raised to the highest ethical standards. Read more about Our Commitment.

Do your products contain any wheat, soy, or corn?

You’ll never find any fillers in our food. In fact, our ingredients are free of preservatives, artificial flavors, and glycerin. Every ingredient is intentionally added to support a nutritionally complete diet for your dog.

Will Freshly Crafted meals offer complete and balanced nutrition?

We don’t recommend leaving out for more than two hours but trust us – they won’t leave leftovers!

How long can I store Freshly Crafted food in the fridge?

You can store the food in the fridge for up to one week. Make sure to use a clean, dry scoop to serve each time or pour directly into the bowl to maintain freshness.

What’s the best way to switch to Freshly Crafted food?

Switching to a new food can be challenging for your dog, especially shifting from kibble to fresh. We recommend slowly introducing your dog to Freshly Crafted over a course of a week by following this guidance:

Days 1-2: Introduce with only 25% of the meal.
Days 3-4: Increase to 50% of the meal.
Days 5-6: Increase to 75% of the meal.
Day 7: Fully transition to a complete Freshly Crafted diet.

We know not all dogs have the same preferences, so we've made our food versatile to serve:  frozen (for a firmer texture!), thawed at room temperature, or gently warmed in the microwave on defrost.

Make sure to monitor dog’s stool closely. If they experience indigestion, which can be common moving from a highly processed kibble to a nutrient dense, fresh, natural food, just slow down the transition.

Can I feed Freshly Crafted food to my puppy?

Our current offerings are only intended for adult dogs. AAFCO has specific nutritional requirements for puppy food to help support that stage of life. Though, it’s perfectly safe to feed Freshly Crafted food to your puppy, it will be nutritionally incomplete based on AAFCO’s requirements.

Dog Treats Ingredients & Sourcing

Why is it important that there is no glycerin in Full Moon treats?

Glycerin, made of either animal products or plant oils, is a common ingredient in dog treats used primarily to sweeten or moisten products, in addition to its general use as a solvent or preservative. However, in some dogs it can also cause digestive upset or other adverse reactions. To ensure your dog’s health and safety, we choose to make our treats without glycerin or other artificial additives.

Are Full Moon Treats safe for dogs with food allergies?

Full Moon Dog Treats are made with limited ingredients and are free from common allergens like wheat, corn, and soy. However, it is always best to consult with a veterinarian before introducing any new food to your dog's diet, especially if your dog has a history of food allergies.

Are Full Moon Dog Treats raw or cooked?

Full Moon Dog Treats are slow-cooked, which preserves the natural flavor and nutrients of the ingredients, while ensuring that they are safe for dogs to consume.

What is the difference between Full Moon's Jerky Treats and Full Moon Essential Tenders?

Full Moon's Jerky Treats are made with USDA-inspected single protein meat and 5 ingredients or less. Jerky has higher protein and serve as a snack or meal supplement. Full Moon Essential Tenders are made with a USDA-inspected meat and cassava root blend for a softer, chewier texture. Both lines are grain free, all-natural and made with USA-raised meat.

What is cassava root and why do you use it in your products?

Cassava root is a starchy root vegetable. It’s natural and considered safe for dogs. We incorporate it in some of our treats to make them softer to chew. If you have any concerns about feeding cassava root to your dog, it's best to consult with a veterinarian before introducing it into their diet.

What is the casing made of on Full Moon Savory Sticks and Bites?

The casing in all Sticks and Bites, not including our Organic products, use collagen from the inner layer of cattle (cow) skin. Collagen from cows is high in protein and low in fat. The casing within our Organic Sticks and Bites are made of sheep intestine.

Dog Treats Storage & Use

How should I store Full Moon Dog Treats?
